The Perfect Saturday in San Diego

We had the best Saturday in San Diego! A mix of local gems, gorgeous nature, and delicious food. It was pretty much the perfect day. We started out with coffee and breakfast at Coffee & Tea Collective / Juice Saves in East Village. Acai bowls are a San Diego staple, and the ones at Juice Saves taste like a healthy ice cream sundae, except it's healthy! Add in some avocado toast from the C&T side, and you're set.

Then, we headed to the beach for some fun in the sun! Coronado is a little island near downtown San Diego, so we drove across the beach and strolled around the famous Hotel Del Coronado. Coronado Beach has super white sand and gets the "best sun" in San Diego, according to some locals we talked to, plus you can rent chairs and an umbrella if you want to too!

After doing a whole lot of nothing except relaxing on the beach, we were ready to eat again. San Diego is full of amazing, amazing, AMAZING tacos, and Salud is one of the best spots to go. It's located in Barrio Logan, an up-and-coming neighborhood, and you get both a hip vibe and authentic tacos (a hard combo to achieve). Try some tacos, but you absolutely must get the TJ street corn. Trust us...it's the one thing we go back for every time we visit San Diego.

Sunset was quickly approaching, so we met up with our Seattle friends Elliott and Dane and headed out to Torrey Pines for a little coastal exploration. Elliott has been living out of his minivan for over a year now, travelling all around the United States with his scooter. Dane joined him for a bit, and this was his last day before heading out to hike the Pacific Coast Trail!

Torrey Pines is a protected area, so you get to experience the California coastal cliffs as they were before they started being developed. You can go for hikes, hang out on the beach, go surfing, or just walk around and enjoy nature. All in all, this was an amazing day in San Diego filled with some of our favorite things!
