Vancouver Date Night at Burdock & Co

Now that it's February, it seems like love is in the air everywhere! With Valentines Day coming up, we wanted to share one of our new favorite places in Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighborhood, Burdock & Co. The best part? There's tons of vegan and gluten-free options too (and it's only a few blocks from our house).

Vancouver Date Night

We love going on friend-dates with each other, and the intimate and romantic setting at Burdock & Co. is the perfect place to catch up over some amazing, locally-sourced food. We love the ethos of the restaurant, and dining on shared plates is our favorite way to eat. The entire menu tastes like you're eating straight from the garden, which really fits with the vibe of our neighborhood.

All of the food is local and organic, and the shared plate menu changes seasonally based on the ingredients. What's really neat is their wine program, which features all natural wines. If you haven't tried "naturalist wine" before, it's definitely worth the experience! The stories behind the wine make the experience much more personal, and it adds a little entertainment to your evening as well.

Romantic Dinner in Vancouver

For our romantic date night out, we picked a few items to share, and they were all amazing! Burdock & Co is known for it's signature fried chicken with a delightful dill sauce, and it did not disappoint! Our tastebuds were very happy with the vegan parsnip latkes with cashew cream and apple butter, proving that you do not need dairy to make a delicious sauce. We also enjoyed scallops so fresh we had to eat them raw, charcoal-grilled beef hanger steak, and a winter beet salad (we are so obsessed with beets).

For dessert, we had the most incredible dark chocolate ganache, because you can never go wrong with ganache, and nibbled on some house-made goat cheese. Fun fact: it's Taylor's dream to own goats and make her own goat cheese, and after chatting with the staff at Burdock & Co. we learned it isn't that hard to make!

Next on our list: weekend brunch at Burdock & Co! The tomato-baked eggs and gluten-free eggs benny are calling our names. Whether you're in town visiting or just looking to branch out a little in Vancouver, check out our Mount Pleasant neighborhood guide for more local gems!

PS! We are doing an Instagram takeover this week, you can follow along at @burdockandco. We love supporting local, so just so you know, this is not a sponsored post!
