5 Hot Spots in Gastown, Vancouver

Gastown, Vancouver is a unique and historic 'hood in our hometown of Vancouver, Canada! It's definitely touristy, because of the gorgeous brick buildings with cobblestone streets, but also because it's right next to the cruise terminal. Normally that sentence would make us cringe, but Gastown is unique in that it's a 'hood where both locals and tourists can hang out - you just need to know where to go! Here are 5 of the best places to visit in Gastown, Vancouver!

Getting to Gastown, Vancouver

We spend a ton of time in Gastown, Vancouver, and we love the small community feel in an area that is also so busy with people coming and going! Some of Vancouver's best restaurants are in Gastown, and it's also home to a ton of bars, shopping, coffee shops, and even some clubs, so there really is something for everyone in Gastown! Gastown is located in Downtown Vancouver along the water, so you can take a ton of buses here or just jump on the metro (Canada Line or Skytrain) to get here super quick. Have a long layover in Vancouver? You can get from the airport to Gastown in under 30 minutes on the Canada Line!

Now that you know how to get here, here's where to go in Gastown, Vancouver:

5 Places to Visit in Gastown, Vancouver

1. Coffee and Avocado Toast at Nelson the Seagull

This bakery and coffee shop in Vancouver's Gastown is one of the coziest coffee shops in the city! Nelson the Seagull has the freshest bread and the yummiest avocado toast, which makes it the perfect spot to start off your day in Gastown. Other Gastown coffee shops we love are Revolver Coffee and Timbertrain Coffee Roasters

2. Smoothies at Nectar Juicery

Nectar Juicery has super yummy juices available all over the city, but our favorite is to stop into their shop to get one blended with banana or kale! So good. If you're not a coffee person, this is a great alternative spot to start your day in Gastown. Another favorite juice spot for us is the Juice Truck parked outside of The Flying Pig.

3. Tacos at La Taqueria

La Taqueria is a classic Gastown taco spot in Vancouver! The tacos are super yummy, and they have an awesome deal on Wednesdays! Grab your tacos to go or pull up a stool, either way you will love their tacos. Tons of veggie options too! Need more tacos? Check out Tacofino

4. Everything at Old Faithful Shop

And we mean everything! You will quickly fall in love with Old Faithful Shop, a modern general store filled with everything you need to make your life stylish (and smell good at the same time). Plus, you can pick up the Vancouver market bag here for the ultimate souvenir.

5. Brunch at La Mezcaleria, Gastown

La Mezcaleria, or Mezcal as the locals call it, is a new hot spot in Gastown that is bumpin' and busy every night, and is a great spot to grab a mezcal-infused cocktail in Gastown. But what most people don't know, is that Mezcal serves a mean Mexican brunch too! We loved our chilaquiles (it's one of the only places you can get chilaquiles in Vancouver) and it was such a beautiful spot for brunch.
